See The Light [EXPLICIT LANGUAGE]

They all sat around the main lounge in the archive. The multiple armchairs dotted around make the meeting the Freaks are having seem relaxed, but it's anything but. The recent emergence of the threat known as Doctor Eureka has caused the group to question everything they know. Jody (Speedfreak) stands up.

"It's worth remembering that Eureka is NOT a God. He acts as one, he thinks as one, but he is NOT one".

There are murmurings among the rest of the group. Joshua (Karma) interjects.

"Then why not treat him as one? Maybe we can use his ego against him?"

"Because he is human. In terms of enemies we've faced, Polaris is closer to a God. Speed-Demon is closer to a God, the Olympians were LITERAL Gods".

"None of them purposely changed our timeline to control our lives", Alan (Digiman) shouts, "Eureka has controlled EVERY facet of our lives since before you became the Caretaker".

Jody shrugs.

"Perfectionist changes the time-line all the time. Speed-Demon, as well as myself, can travel time through the Akara, time travelling is nothing new here..."

Alan continues to sound angry.

"Perfectionist changes time to get back at Reaper. She has not deliberately and exclusively done it to affect OUR lives!"

Several other members agree. Jody concedes.

"That's a fair point, but the sooner we work out WHY Eureka did this, the sooner we can defeat him".

"And reset the timeline", Sarah Jones stands up with sadness her in voice, "We'll reset the timeline, won't we?"

Jody looks confused.

"Why would we do that?"

"Because isn't that the right thing to do?"

Jody looks at the teenager with confusion. He's extremely bewildered as to why she's thinking this. Sarah usually doesn't think too deeply about things like this.

"The right thing to do is to stop Eureka from doing any more damage".

"But what about the people that Eureka erased by going back to 2004? I can't begin to imagine what kind of people no longer exist as a result of his actions! When we've dealt with time-travellers before, we've corrected the timeline. What makes this different?"

Joshua puts his hand on Sarah's shoulders.

"Those events were minimal. One event changed. Not an entire universe. If we changed the timeline, we would erase this entire reality. None of us would be here. If Eureka has done that once, then to do it again would make us no better than him!"

Sarah doesn't look convinced. She looks back at Jody.

"So, what do we do instead?"

Marion (Starcaster) interjects.

"In the culture of the Genesis, there's the God known as Aroon. Aroon was the creator of their home-world, the Ark, and was thought for a long time as a benevolent God. But their holy book describes Aroon over time as a dictator, a God dissatisfied with his creation and starts to turn on the Genesis. Eventually, the Genesis gathered together as a race and fought Aroon. It was a bloody war but the Genesis eventually won and destroyed Aroon. After which they found their freedom. Eureka is Aroon in this situation and we are the Genesis. We don't need to change the time-line to beat him. We start a revolution..."

Jody smiles.

"Similar story exists on Eden. It was a story, it was real and I was born during it".

Dana (Madame Magique) chuckles.

"Born in it? Brother, I fought in it!"

Jody smiles. Joe (Elemental) stands up and joins Jody.

"A revolution sounds good. But how do we go about that?"

"We need all hands on deck really, but I know that'll be hard. We're going to need all the help we can get. Eureka is constantly one step ahead of us so we need someway to get the ahead of him..."

Marion thinks. Joshua offers.

"What about those two girls from Allen Valley? The speedster and the brainiac?"

Jody shakes his head vehemently.

"I'm not bringing Vicky and Alice into this. It's too dangerous for them. To be honest I'm a little uncomfortable letting Sarah in on this..."

Sarah looks annoyed.

"Love you too".

Alan points at Jody.

"What about Leviathan? We could use a little crazy?"

"He's finally got a lead on Ruth's killers in Central America. I'm under strict instruction not to contact him until he returns. In fact, quote/unquote, 'you contact me while I'm away, Speed-Git, and I will place my sword so far up your arse that it will bankrupt the NHS to remove it'".

Marion walks into the convened group.

"I might know someone who could help"

Sarah looks excited.

"Is it another Starcaster?"

"No. But someone not dissimilar..."

They all look at each other with intrigue. Jody smiles.

"Go on?"

The room was dull, dark and disgusting. Water dripped from the ceiling with alarming frequency as two men meet in the dingy, desolate, warehouse. Both men wear suits, but one looks far more confident than the other. The less confident one starts first.

"I'm assuming you are the contact?"

The relaxed man nods. The nervous man sighs with relief.

"Thank goodness. I thought this might've been a trap".

The relaxed man starts to speak. His voice is Eastern European.

"Mr Volstovov sends his regards. I'm sure you can appreciate his absence given the involvement of...certain individuals". 

The nervous man nods. The relaxed man puts down a case down on the floor and starts to open it. As it opens, a bright blue light can be seen covering the nervous man. The nervous man's bald head becomes bathed in light as his eyes widen. The relaxed man stands up and walks next to the nervous.

"This is a special weapon. It's derived from ancient Genesis technology. Salvaged from the Dark Heart event. It's able to deter speedsters, cause serious damage to a Starcaster and can even mess with a magician. If you want to make an attack against the Freaks, you're going to want this weapon".

"But what about against the general public? My intention is to cause trouble, not fight the Freaks!"

"I'm aware of your intentions. I merely used the Freaks as an indicator of how powerful this weapon is. If exploded, it will vaporize everyone within a 400 feet radius instantly. Human, alien, dog, it doesn't matter. All organic matter, poof!"

The nervous man looks even more nervous, but he doesn't seem to have changed his mind.

"What's the price?"

 The relaxed man smiles.

"The thing with Mr Volstovov is, he doesn't want money. He has a steady cash flow and money is no issue for him. He demands something...more".

"Like what?"

"A deal with Volstovov demands a sacrifice of loyalty. You need to do something to us to prove you're loyal".

The nervous man nods.

"Ok. That's fine. Whatever it is, I'll do it!"

The relaxed man smiles evilly.

"We're very glad you say so..."

He clicks his fingers. A few moments later, someone can be heard struggling. Another man, holding a woman in a nightdress with a sack over her head, arrives into view. He stands next to the relaxed man and pushes the captive woman down onto the floor and removes the sack from her head. She's gagged and is crying. The nervous man looks horrified.

"Oh my God, Laura!"

The relaxed man smiles.

"Laura Smith. 32 years of age. Born in Lincoln, studied microbiology in Cardiff, biochemical engineer, mother of two and the wife of Mark Smith. You".

"YOU'VE GOT MY WIFE!?"

"Like we said, a deal with Volstovov requires loyalty. You said you'd do, whatever it is, your words".

Mark looks at the relaxed man as he's handed a gun.

"Kill your wife, Mark".

Mark looks horrified again.

"I can't kill her! I love her!"

The relaxed man sighs with discontent.

"If you do not kill your wife and seal this deal, not only will we kill your wife anyway, we will kill you. I believe your children are teenagers? Two girls? 18 and 16, are they not? Perhaps Volstovov might have a special fate for them. Have you ever wondered how much a teenage girl will go for on the open market? Extra if they're a virgin..."

Mark looks disgusted.

"You're sick...you're all fucking sick!"

"You are the man who came to us wanting to commit a terror attack to get famous. I don't think you get the right to take the moral high ground. This is the world, Mr Smith. Now you kill your wife or I will personally make sure that both your daughters get fucked by the highest bidder".

Mark looks disgusted. He looks at the relaxed man, then at his wife. The wife looks sad.

"I'm so sorry, sweetheart. I can't let them take the girls..."

The wife cries as she realises her fate. Mark looks at the gun he's been handed and points it at his crying spouse.

"I know it doesn't mean much right now, Laura, but I love you..."

The wife cries more. Just as the trigger is about to be pulled, a voice can be heard.

"Really?"

They all turn around. They're confronted with a woman. She's dressed in yellow and brown armor, carrying two katanas, and sporting a neat short haircut. Everyone looks confused.

"I've met some shitty husbands in my time but you really take the crown".

The relaxed man laughs sarcastically.

"Spectral. What a nice surprise".

"Vladimir. How's your arm these days?"

The relaxed man (Vladimir) laughs, raises his right arm and pulls down his sleeve. A glove covers his hand but the rest of his arm is black and blistered.

"My next round of chemo is next week".

"Well, you shouldn't be trafficking children while I'm around then!"

"Maybe I like flying too close to the Sun!"

"I showed you what happens if you do!"

"KILL HER!"

Two of his associates start to shoot at Spectral. She pulls out her katanas and blocks them. She runs behind a wall for a moment to power up one of her wrist devices.As the device powers up, her sword changes colour. The sword in her right hand turns to green. She runs out from behind the wall and swipes her katana in their direction. As she does, a green wave of energy is expelled from the sword. It hits the shooters and they go flying back towards a back wall.

As she puts her katanas away, more gunshots can be heard. She powers up her device again, but this time, she uses her body as a conduit. She holds out her hand towards them and more green energy is funneled from her.

While she's distracted, Vladimir picks up the weapon from the case and turns on a setting. He points it at Spectral and opens fire. A beam of energy is fired from the gun and careens towards the unsuspecting Spectral. Just before it reaches her, a portal opens and takes the beam away. Another portal opens up next to it and fires the beam back at Vladimir. He ducks as it comes near him. The portals closes and Spectral turns around. She realises what just happened and looks confused. Suddenly, Madame Magique lands next to her.

"Woo! That was close!"

Spectral looks confused.

"Thanks?"

"You're welcome!"

Vladimir gets up and sees Madame Magique.

"Magique...am I glad you're here!"

"I don't know you..."

"No...but I know you!"

He adjusts the setting and fires another beam at her. Spectral pushes her out of the way of it and gets hit by it. She goes flying backwards. Magique sees this and looks concerned. She's unaware that Vladimir is coming towards her. He grabs her and turns her around, he point the gun at her.

"IT WILL BE A PLEASURE KILLING YOU!"

Magique looks worried.

"What? No tricks! What a shame. Oh well, we all know the cure for a witch!"

"Oi, dickhead..."

Vladimir turns around. Speedfreak stands there.

"That's my sister..."

He speeds forward and shunts him out of the way. Vladimir goes flying. Speedfreak helps Magique up.

"You ok?"

"I think he's got a Dark weapon".

"Where's the newbie?"

Magique points. Speedfreak runs over to Spectral. She nurses her head as he arrives.

"Spectral, right?"

She looks up and sees him.

"Ah. Speedfreak. I was wondering when I'd come across you. Thank you for coming but I can handle myself!"

"Clearly. Let me help you up".

"I'm fine".

Speedfreak notices blood coming from her head.

"You're injured..."

Spectral closes her eyes and concentrates. A yellow light comes over the wound and it heals. Speedfreak looks amazed.

"Ok. That's pretty cool..."

Another beam can be heard being launched. They both look in the direction of it.

Vladimir tries once more to attack Madame Magique. However, this time, Starcaster has joined them. Speedfreak and Spectral run in. As they do, Spectral and Starcaster look at each other and smile.

"Ah. I was wondering where you'd gone!" Spectral jokes.

"Been away!"

Starcaster smiles flirtatiously.

"As per usual".

Vladimir fires another beam, this time at Speedfreak. He dodges it by continually running around and drawing his fire. Spectral looks at Starcaster.

"Fancy redoing Pathway?"

Starcaster smiles with excitement. Magique looks confused.

"Pathway?"

Spectral and Starcaster look at Magique and chuckle. Starcaster walks up to her and puts a hand on Magique's shoulder.

"You are in for a treat!"

Spectral stands in front of Starcaster.

"Which colour shall we go for this time?"

"Oh, why not go full spectrum? As long as they don't kill him, we're good".

"Works for me. Hit me!"

"Hold on tight!"

Starcaster throws her arms back and thrusts them forward. As she does, an intense beam of light protrudes from them. The beam strikes Spectral who is slightly taken aback but withstands the impact. Magique looks shocked. Realistically, no one should be able to withstand that much light energy from Starcaster. After a few moments, Starcaster stops. Spectral absorbs the light and starts to become rainbow-skinned. She turns around and faces Vladimir, who is still shooting at Speedfreak.

"OI, VLAD!"

Vladimir stops firing and turns around.

"NIGHT, NIGHT!"

She throws her arms forward like Starcaster, where a rainbow energy beam is fired from them. It hits Vladimir, who screams upon contact. After a few intense moments, he collapses and Spectral stops. She breathes out slowly and catches her breath. 

"I love it when we do that!"

Starcaster laughs. Magique can't believe what he just saw.

"How the hell did you withstand that?"

"I have a hell of a threshold!"

Speedfreak runs over and joins them. Spectral looks at him, then at Starcaster.

"So to what do I owe a visit from the Freaks?"

Starcaster smiles softly.

"We need your help. We have a particular problem we could use your help with"

Spectral looks confused.

"An enemy the FREAKS need help with? Must be bad".

As Spectral finishes, she looks past Speedfreak and sees Mark from earlier moving towards his wife, who is still bound and gagged. As he approaches her, she tries to move away in fear.

"Laura, please, you don't understand!"

She continues to cower.

"LAURA, PLEASE!"

"HEY!"

He turns around and sees Spectral moving towards him. He looks at her and cries.

"I didn't...I mean, I didn't..."

"Hey, look, it's ok. We all have our reasons for doing things, we just need to ca..."

"I was going to kill people...I was going to kill people because I was angry...I was so angry...and I wanted them to pay...I didn't think they'd take my wife...threaten my children..."

"Mark, just take a deep breath..."

"And now my wife is scared of me..."

He looks at the gun in his hand intensely. Spectral notices and moves forward slowly.

"Mark...just stop a second and put the gun down, ok?"

Mark looks up at her.

"What's the point? My wife is scared of me, I'll never see my kids again...what good can I do now?"

"You can help ME. I'm trying to take Volstovov down. I'm not the first who's tried but I'm the one who's getting closest to him. If you help me, I can help you redeem yourself. Make sure he never does this to anyone else again!"

Mark looks at the gun, then his wife. He cries some more looking at his wife before looking back at Spectral.

"It won't change what I've done to them..."

Almost in the blink of an eye, Mark raises the gun to his chin and pulls the trigger. He flops to the floor as his wife screams and cries. Spectral looks stunned. She can't believe what she's just seen. Starcaster walks over to her and puts her hand on Spectral's shoulder.

"Eloise, there's nothing you could've done".

"He just...I mean he just..."

"I know. Why don't you come with us?"

Spectral looks at her with a tear falling down her cheek. She then looks at Magique and Speedfreak who stand there, seemingly unaffected by what's just happened. She looks back at Starcaster, also emotionless.

"Oh my God...it's bad, isn't it? What you guys want to talk to me about?"

Starcaster nods. Spectral thinks and nods.

"What do you want from me?"

Speedfreak steps forward.

"We need you to stop a God..."

Getting To Know...'The Freaks'

Hello everyone and welcome to the Official Freaks Stories blog. A comic book universe in prose. (Which, by the way, is sodding hard!)

In this post, I wanted to introduce some of the characters that, if you've been reading them, you've come across and some you'll come across in the future. These people are the people who will make up the main Freaks team roster.

So, here goes. A little bio and some trivia!


SPEEDFREAK 
Alias: Jody Kent/Torah al-Nivah
Age: 23 (as of Freaks: Assassination)
Species: Edenic
Home Planet: Eden
Abilities: Speed, regenerative capability, extended lifespan due to his alien physiology.

Bio: Speedfreak is 11/12 when he becomes Caretaker and, for the most part, he takes the role on begrudgingly. He becomes a Caretaker after witnessing his new friend, Roberta, die at the hands of a seemingly immortal villain known as 'Tragedy'. He originally took the role on with his twin sister, Laura, by his side, but ends up doing it alone for a short time after Laura dies at the hands of a villain known as 'Lifeforce'. In the years following, he makes new powered friends, falls in love and continues his Caretaker abilities, even after confronting Tragedy one more time. At age 16, he races back in time to the 1940s to help the SERENGETI team where he meets Flux, daughter of Akara, who he will also fall in love with. Since returning, he has been a general in the Polaris Wars on Earth. While he considers himself as human, his Edenic ancestry often comes to the fore. Not only is he continually scrutinized by the Edenic Council, but he is also at the mercy of his Edenic mother, Ark, who continually tries to kill him.

Trivia: Speedfreak gets his name from Roberta, who shows him part of his future. His favourite song is 'Falling Off The Edge Of The World' by Black Sabbath.

Main Villains: Tragedy, Slipshod, Speed-Demon, Penelope Carswell, Mirror, Polaris.



STARCASTER 
Alias: Marion Gold
Age: 23 (as of Freaks: Assassination)
Species: Human-Aug
Home Planet: Earth
Abilities: Stellar manipulation, light abilities, immortality, nuclear fission, flight.

Bio: Marion Gold is an augmented human whose physiology is replaced by a compressed star, giving her the ability of the stars. Originally an aspiring actress, Marion attempts to kill herself after she continually gets rejected for roles but is saved by the Starcasters and is given a new purpose. Upon her return to Earth, she decides to become the protector of the Earth, unaware of the Caretaker's existence, and takes on the mantle of superheroine. Because of her unique abilities, she becomes the target for many science based villains.

Trivia: Marion's dad originally called her Starcaster as a pet name, But she adopted it when she discovered that Starcasters were the policemen of the universe. 'Marion' is actually her Mum's middle name.

Main Villains: Singularity, Stellarnaut, Doctor Eureka, The Perfect Strange, Cassiopeia, Polaris.



KARMA 
Alias: Joshua Peterson
Age: 23 (as of Freaks: Polaris Wars)
Species: Human
Home Planet: Earth
Abilities: God-like strength, ability to get bigger and return to size, clear sense of right and wrong.

Bio: Joshua Peterson is a strong individual who has been given the power of strength by the Goddess, Karma. A child with a rough childhood, Peterson was a teenager who knew what was wrong but found he had no way to stop it. So, the Goddess Karma visits him and endows him with her abilities so that he can dish out justice when appropriate. Physically strong and formidable, he also has a brilliant mind and is usually the Freaks' tactician. His intelligence is nearly second to none and his strategy is by far the best of the Freaks. This, in turn, tends to attract villains who also see themselves as astounding tacticians.

Trivia: Karma was originally going to join the Freaks in 'Assassination'. But was dropped due to an Assassination Classroom character called Karma.

Main Villains: BodyBuilder, Darryl Anderson, Reason, Polaris.



REAPER 
Alias: Lucy Gregory
Age: 22 (as of Freaks: Polaris Wars)
Species: Human
Home Planet: Earth
Abilities: Increased intelligence, technological superiority, uses machines and mechanical suits to provide her with armor and weaponry, flight.

Bio: Lucy Gregory is a young lady from Wales who uses her technological prowess to create armored suit to allow her to go against powered individuals and keep the city of Cardiff safe. Lucy takes on the Reaper mantle after her Dad gets injured in an Aug attack. Using her amazing intelligence and genius in technology, she creates 'Reaper suits' which are designed to, not only have amazing defence and offensive capability, but to instill fear into anyone who comes across her. Although she constructs many amazing technological marvels, her lack in defensive tech does leave her open to EMP attacks and she can become overwhelmed in the presence of too much electricity. While there are villains in the Freaks universe who also use technology to attack people, Reaper's villains tend to be much darker in their approaches and she has no villains who, like her, are unpowered.

Trivia: Although Reaper is a key member in the Freaks roster, she leads her own small team in Cardiff known as 'The Pride'. This roster features Reaper, Beau, Jennifer Llewellyn, Nighttime and Corporal William Stagger, a soldier from the Second World War who finds his way to the future.

Main Villains: The Perfectionist, Nightmare, The Head, Grim Reaper, Patchwork.



FLUX 
Alias: Jessica Wade
Age: 21 (as of Freaks: Assassination)
Species: Temporal
Home Planet: Eden
Abilities: Forcefield generation, temporal channeling, flight, portal creation.

Bio: Flux is the daughter of Edenic Goddess, Akara, and holds many of Akara's abilities. Created by Akara originally to suppress a revolution on Eden, she was exiled when the revolution was successful. She was charged with protecting a young Jody and Laura as they left Eden (because it was their mother, Ark, who started the revolution) but their ships got separated. While the children ended up on Earth in the 1990s, Flux ended up on Earth in the 1600s. After being trapped in the city of Nuremburg, branded a witch, she opened up a portal to the future Edenic War. During this, Starcaster arrived from the future and placed Flux into a coma so she could be awoken when the time was right. She was awoken by SERENGETI in the 1940s and went back to the future with Speedfreak, who had run back in time to help SERENGETI find out who she was. She ends up falling in love with Speedfreak and the pair fight together during the Polaris wars. Due to her ability to travel backwards in time, she often attracts the challenge of fellow time-changer, The Perfectionist. Who, at one stage, drains Flux of her Akara connection.

Trivia: Flux, in the written Freaks universe, is an only child. However, in a parallel universe, she has a younger brother known as 'Quantum'. However, he goes by the name 'Dark Angel'. While Flux is able to travel backwards and forwards in time, Dark Angel is able to jump from parallel to parallel.

Main Villains: Penelope Carswell, The Perfect Strange, The Perfectionist, Slipshod, Mirror.



SARAH JONES 
Alias: Dead-Girl
Age: 17 (as of Freaks: Polaris Wars)
Species: Human
Home Planet: Earth
Abilities: Ability to traverse the land of the living and the land of the dead, ability to translate spirits from the Veil into the land of the living.

Bio: Sarah Jones is an enigma in the Freaks Universe. At age 5, Sarah Jones was hit by a car and was killed as a result. However, while her soul was transferring to the Veil, something pulled her back. This, in turn, left half of her soul within the Veil and half of it in the land of the living. This, as well as not needing blood, oxygen or anything to survive, means she is effectively indestructible. However. it is well known that she can only be killed by severing her head or by destroying her brain. At age 7, when the Veil started communicating to her, she was assumed to be schizophrenic. But it was Jody that came to her aid and helped her manage her abilities. Since then, her and Jody have developed a sister/brother-esque relationship. Her real family life is complicated. Her sister went missing and hasn't been found, her brother ran away, her mother fell into addiction. However, her main adversary is her father. After returning from the dead, her father rationalised that this happened because of the amount of Augs and Naturals in the world. So he became 'Flashbang' and murdered Augs in Sarah's name. Because of this, she often comes across as brash or rude but she's a standard rebellious teenager trying to do something good for the world.

Trivia: Sarah adopts Jody as her brother aged 8 after discovering Jody's real sister, Laura, was killed. Sarah is still unaware what pulled her out of the Veil when she died aged 5 and, to date, no one in the Veil knows either.

Main Villains: Flashbang, Doctor Eureka, Speed-Demon, Lifeforce.



LEVIATHAN 
Alias: James Monroe
Age: 33 (as of Freaks: Polaris Wars)
Species: Human
Home Planet: Earth
Abilities: Expert military attack skills, martial arts, weapons expert, enhanced healing factor.

Bio: James Monroe becomes Leviathan after the murder of his fiancee, Ruth. After a mental breakdown, Monroe becomes a martial arts and weapons expert and resolves to kill anyone who is wrong. However, due to his mental breakdown, his sense of humour goes wild and is often accused to being 'completely bat-shit crazy'. His favourite superhero was Deadpool and adopts much of his personality. The strange thing about Monroe is that, when the mask is of, he's James Monroe, but he is Leviathan when the mask is on. Almost like they're two different people.

Trivia: Although Leviathan is an anti-hero, he is officially a member of the Freaks. He hates Speedfreak and often refers to him as 'Speed-Git'.

Main Villains: Dmitry Volstovov, The Mentora Gang, Polaris, Electrolyte, The Nemesis.



VISIONARIE 
Alias: Stephanie Vickery
Age: 22 (as of Freaks: Polaris War)
Species: Human
Home Planet: Earth
Abilities: Telepathy, psychic abilities, ESP, mind control.

Bio: Stephanie Vickery is a human natural who can look into and manipulate minds if she so wishes. However, she chooses not to manipulate minds unless there are extenuating circumstances. Born with her abilities, she was in therapy as a child due to her hearing other people's voices. However, when she was old enough to realise what was going on, she convinced her therapist to discharge her. After meeting Elemental at school, she realised she could use her abilities for good and decided to hone her powers. She ends up joining Elemental, Speedfreak and many other heroes on many occasions. She tends to attract other people with psychic abilities and, when the Polaris Wars occur, she finds herself not being able to use her powers as much due to Polaris' overwhelming mind control ability. Eventually, she succumbs to his psychic attacks and becomes one of his minions, but against her will.

Trivia: Visionarie lives predominantly in Southampton and sets up a safe haven for other good Augs and Naturals. She also helps Othergirl after she falls from the future.

Main Villains: Polaris, Brother Psych, Dmitry Volstovov, The Perfect Strange, The Head, Nightmare.



MADAME MAGIQUE
Alias: Donna Freeway/Dorra al-Triah 
Age: 29 (as of Freaks: Polaris Wars)
Species: Edenic
Home Planet: Eden
Abilities: Magical abilities, witchcraft, universal energy transfer.

Bio: Donna Freeway is the Edenic cousin of Jody Kent and is a known witch. She uses her magical ability for good. She fled Eden during the Edenic Civil War but her transferrence spell sent her further in time than she thought and she ended up in the future. She finds Jody, who just about remembers her, and they become a team. Being Jody's cousin on his father's side, she has a huge hatred for Ark and, often, her love for her cousin and desire to protect him (she still remembers him as a baby) often gets her into trouble with various villains who try to exploit that connection.

Trivia: There was a theory on Eden for a while that Donna was actually Jody's older sister. However, Ark confirms this isn't true, describing her as 'the niece I couldn't wait to kill'.

DARK ANGEL
Alias: Quantum
Age: 19 (as of Freaks: Assassination)
Species: Temporal
Home Planet: Eden
Abilities: Levitation, flight, force field generation, portal creation, psychic abilities.

Bio: Dark Angel originally comes from a universe known as 'The Origin Universe' which was the first universe ever created. The younger brother of Flux, he is able to travel from parallel to parallel instead of travelling backwards and forwards in time. He is strange in the fact that the Origin Universe is the only universe where he exists so he finds it hard to gain the Freaks' trust when he goes from parallel to parallel. Not a lot is known of Dark Angel's past as he refuses to talk about it but we do know is that he befriends the Freaks in every parallel he visits.

Trivia: Dark Angel secretly has the power to end the universe but he chooses not to use it because 'it's boring'.

"Well, it's been a pleasure, Jody".

"And to you, your highness. He's secured?"

"He's secured. And he won't be free for a VERY long time. Interfering with the Veil is serious offence in my country. So he will be punished accordingly".

"I'm glad to hear it!"

They smile. After a few moments, Kasim's face turns serious.

"I truly am sorry for your loss. I lost my mother a few years ago. Gone before her time. Murdered by traitors so, I can kind of understand how you feel".

"How come no one visited you? Dad came to me, Mel's mum came to her and Roberta and Warren's partner came to him...why did no one visit you?"

"I think Mum visited Dad. They loved each other very much so it makes more sense for that to have happened. I'm sure I will hear about it upon my return..."

They nod. Kasim puts his hand on Jody's shoulder once more.

"If you ever need anything, help. someone to talk to, you can come to Babylonia anytime. My door is always open..."

"Thank you, Kasim. Same for you. Thank you for helping me stop Lifeforce".

"Thank you for bringing a killer to justice. And thank you for stopping me when I went too far. I have a tendency to do that..."

"We all do. It's ok".

Kasim nods. He walks away towards the carpet and the Genie who are waiting for him.

"See ya, Genie!"

"Soon, I hope, Mr Kent".

Kasim steps onto the carpet and prepares for take off.

"Oh, Jody, I meant to tell you. I had a dream a few weeks ago. And I realised while being here that it involved you..."

"Oh?"

"Yes. The dream was you against an enemy that was older than the universe itself. And you fought them alone. If this happens in real life, don't fight alone. In the dream, it didn't end well for you..."

Jody nods.

"Noted. Thank you, Kasim. Safe journey and send my love to Babylonia. Went there on holiday once. Beautiful country".

"Meh. It's ok I suppose".

They chuckle. Soon after, Kasim flies away. Jody looks after him and thinks for a moment. He smiles to himself. He liked Kasim. He was fun.

Jody sat alone in the Archive. He sat on the edge of the Fountain and just listened to the water running. He was contemplating what to do now. He'd lost two people in two weeks and, for him, it was too much.

"How did your Mum take it?"

Jody turns around and sees Mel leaning against the doorframe.

"She lost her daughter. But she's taking it as well as can be expected. She was comforted knowing that Dad saw her across. Even if she is pissed at him for not visiting her. She wanted to have a go at him for not finishing the shed".

They chuckle for a moment. Mel goes over and sits next to Jody.

"I don't think I've ever felt this empty..."

"I know that feeling. That's how I felt when Mum died".

"What do we do now?"

"We carry on. We look for Tragedy and we make him pay for what he did to Roberta. Kasim will see that Lifeforce gets the punishment he deserves, it's up to us to avenge Roberta".

"What if we can't?"

"What do you mean?"

Jody sighs.

"Before Kasim left, he told me he had a dream about me. Fighting an enemy 'older' than anything. I think that might be Tragedy. He then said it didn't end well for me. Tragedy is always one step ahead of us...it wouldn't surprise me if I did die at his hand".

"You can't think like that"

"I have to, Mel. It's only a matter of time. We all die sometime!"

"I know but Laura would want you to continue"

"She'd want me to hide my powers"

"She'd want you to be happy. Especially now she knows the truth about what happened with your dad..."

Jody shrugs.

"I just don't think I can lose anyone else..."

Mel hugs him.

"Well, you're not getting rid of me anytime soon!"

Jody smiles.

"Thank you..."

"It's what friends are for..."

As they hug, Jody's phone rings. Jody looks at the screen.

"Huh...that's odd..."

"Who is it?"

"It's my oldest friend. I haven't seen him for ages. Can I take this?"

"Sure!"

Jody answers.

"Joe. Long time no speak. What can I do for you?"

"Hey, Jody. How's things?"

"Well, I'm as good as I'll ever be...you ok?"

"Yeah. Yeah I'm alright..."

Pause.

"So...any particular reason you called?"

"Yeah...ummm...I need advice..."

"Ok?"

"...how quickly can you get to my school?"

"About 30 seconds...why?"

"Can you come here? There's something you need to see. And I hear you're an expert on the weird nowadays..."

"You weren't wrong were you..."

"No..."

Jody and Joe look at a wall at Joe's school. Where a massive hole now resides.

"And you just found this?"

"I always come to school early to use the labs. But, yeah, I found this".

Jody looks stunned.

"And where is it now?"

"Where's what?"

"What made this...shape?"

"Well....ummmm...we don't know..."

"You don't know!?"

"No".

"JOE, THIS WAS MADE BY A FREAKING RHINOCEROS! HOW DO YOU LOSE A RHINO!?"

"I'M PRETTY SURE THE BETTER QUESTION IS HOW THE HELL DID A RHINOCEROS END UP IN A SCHOOL IN THE FIRST PLACE!?"

"...Fair".

They stare once more before Jody comments once more.

"Well, you can't say my new job isn't interesting..."

Joe looks confused.

"New job?"

Jody looks at Joe and smiles.

"Yes...new job...and, funnily enough, a new vacancy has appeared...interested?"

Joe looks confused.

"What kind of vacancy?"

"Something someone with you abilities might find challenging..."

Joe lifts his hand and produces a chemical reaction with magnesium and water. From himself.

"I'm listening..."

Circles Of Life (5/6)

"You know the plan then?"

Kasim nodded. He was well aware.

"Genie is with me. I've dealt with far worse than this, young one..."

"Liar..."

Kasim and Jody smile at each other. Kasim jumps on the magic carpet and flies into the sky. Jody looks in awe.

"That is never not going to be cool..."

Mel starts talking over Jody's earpiece.

"Boys and their toys!"

"How we doing, Mel?"

"We're still looking for Lifeforce. Maybe just circle about a bit and I'll keep you updated".

Jody nods and speeds off around the city.

Laura and Mel sit in the Archive.

"Ok, I'm going to make my way down there too",

"You? Why?"

"I'm a conduit for the Veil. I need to be there!"

"There must be another way!

"I need to be there, Mel!"

"What if Lifeforce is there again?"

"That's the plan!"

"No, I mean, what if he's there and tries to trick you again?"

Laura scowls at Mel, then leaves. Mel goes on the comms.

"Jody, Laura's on her way to the scene".

"That's ok. She's needed",

Mel looks confused.

"And you're cool with this?"

"I have to be..."

Suddenly, the screen in the Archive beeps.

"Got him! He's on the intersection between Mandela Street and Henry Avenue!"

Lifeforce walks around with his hood up. No one notices him. That is, until Speedfreak appears in front of him.

"You and I need to talk..."

Lifeforce smiles.

"I'm done talking..."

Lifeforce backhands Speedfreak who, to his surprise, goes flying. He goes through a department stores window and knocks over a number of mannequins. Lifeforce removes his hood as people start to scream and run away.

"WHILE YOU LOT HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND ME, I'VE ADAPTED. I'VE KILLED 12 MORE PEOPLE SINCE THE SHOPKEEPER. BUT NO ONE NOTICED!"

Lifeforce steps into the shattered window and grabs Speedfreak by the chest and rips off his mask, revealing Jody's face.

"And I'm hearing all kind of whispers..."

He throws Speedfreak back out into the street.

"...whispers like 'Oh, Speedfreak will save us! Speedfreak will defend us!' But you're nothing more than a child..."

Speedfreak tries to recover but Lifeforce runs to him and puts his foot on Jody's throat.

"...And I have no qualms ending your life, Jody Kent...maybe Roberta will be glad to see you..."

Jody struggles to free himself but can't. Moments before the end, Lifeforce is knocked to the floor by something flying past. Jody splutters as Lifeforce quickly recovers to find Kasim hovering above the ground on the carpet.

"Ah...your highness..."

"You're coming with me..."

Kasim flies towards him but Lifeforce turns purple and causes a mini explosion of some kind. Kasim and the carpet go flying. They land next to Jody. Kasim looks confused.

"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!?"

"He's killed 12 more people. I think he's reaching capacity..."

"Unlucky 13? Isn't that what you Westerners say?"

"I'm not a Westerner, remember?"

Kasim looks confused.

"I'm from the East of my world..."

Lifeforce staggers towards them.

"Ah...an all-star team up?"

Jody defiantly stands up.

"This isn't a comic book..."

"Oh but the ending will be..."

Lifeforce turns purple again and raises his hands to the sky. A storm starts to brew. Lifeforce is struck by lightning and another mini kind of explosion occurs. After it does, a portal starts to open. Kasim looks panicked.

"THE PORTAL TO THE VEIL!"

"Where are you, Laura!?"

Lifeforce turns around to Jody and Kasim once more.

"YOU'VE FAILED! I WILL CONSUME EVERY SOUL FROM THE VEIL AND THIS WORLD WILL QUAKE IN MY WAKE!"

Kasim stands up.

"AND THEN WHAT!?"

"I WILL BE THE MOST POWERFUL BEING THIS WORLD HAS EVER KNOWN".

Jody chuckles.

"Is that what you think? If you think you're the most powerful being the world has ever known then you're sorely mistaken..."

Jody moves closer.

"I've only been doing this a couple of weeks but I've already faced someone more powerful than you. A man who's invincible. A man who can't be reasoned with, a man who isn't of this world I'm sure. And he doesn't really like competition. Hell, he even brought a plague of Leptils down on the world just to cause pain to one person...you really think you can beat someone like that?"

"I do..."

Jody chuckles.

"Then your arrogance will be your downfall..."

Lifeforce smiles evily.

"I will not fall. I WILL BE RULER OF THIS WORLD AND COMMAND ALL OF THE SOULS WITHIN IT!"

Lifeforce opens his arms like Jesus on the cross.

"MR INVINCIBLE IS GONE, SOON SO SHALL PRINCE KASIM AND THE SPEEDFREAK...MY CHILDREN, COME TO DADDY..."

Suddenly, Laura appears in front of the portal. They all look over. Lifeforce smiles.

"The Daddy's girl..."

"The only one of these clowns that can outsmart you!"

Lifeforce laughs.

"I somewhat doubt that..."

Laura outstretches her arms too.

"Let's see shall we? Jody, Kasim, get people away!"

Jody nods. They do so. Suddenly, a beam of light comes from the portal and streaks through Laura. She gasps in shock as it does. It then goes into Lifeforce. He smiles as the power streaks into him. Laura, still in shock, tries to concentrate but the pain is unbearable.

"Concentrate, Laura..."

She says to herself as the shock subsides and she remembers the job at hand. She closes her eyes.

"NOW!"

She starts to fade out of existence but ends up only have fading. Just enough so the Veil can stream through her. Another beam comes from Laura and streaks into Lifeforce. Only, he wasn't expecting this one. Lifeforce looks at Laura confused.

"What are you doing?"

Laura smiles weakly.

"Even the most ravenous of beats has a breaking point..."

Lifeforce looks around as a number of spirits gather around him. He looks terrified because they look very angry.

"Vengeful ghosts exist, Lifeforce, and...wow...they're pissed at you..."

Lifeforce crouches down. The beams stop. Laura falls to the floor. The spirits edge closer to Lifeforce who gets angry.

"STAY AWAY FROM ME!"

Laura weakly looks.

"What's the matter? Don't like it when your food fights back?"

Jody and Kasim return and see what's going on. Kasim goes to join the spirits while Jody notices Laura. 

"NO"

He speeds over to her. Kasim joins the spirits. Lifeforce looks at Kasim.

"SEND THEM AWAY! SEND THEM AWAY, PLEASE!"

Kasim smiles.

"I wanted to take you back to Babylonia and face Babylonian justice. But, given these guys are here, what the hell. I think they have their own plans for you...fellas,,,all yours. And may the Gods have mercy on your souls..."

The spirits lay into Lifeforce. Piercing through his skin and grabbing him. Lifeforce screams out in agony as he's lifted into the air by the collection of spirits. Jody stands up.

"KASIM...STOP THIS!"

"IT'S OUT OF MY CONTROL NOW..."

"THIS IS NOT WHAT WE AGREED"

"WE AGREED HE'D GET JUSTICE...HE IS...BY THE VEIL'S STANDARDS..."

"THIS IS NOT HOW WE DO THINGS. IT'S NOT HOW WE SHOULD DO THINGS. KASIM, PLEASE!"

Kasim struggles with his conscience for a moment. Eventually, he sees sense.

"STOP!"

The spirits stop and turn to Kasim.

"He will face justice on this plain. I promise you. Your brothers and sister will be avenged. But properly".

The spirits delegate for a moment before letting go of Lifeforce. Defeated, he slumps to the ground. Jody and Kasim run back over to Laura to comfort her. Kasim looks at the spirits.

"You don't have a lot of time...go..."

They do so. Jody comforts Laura.

"Hey, come on sis, you'll be fine!"

Laura smiles weakly.

"I wasn't expecting this..."

"You'll be FINE. Trust me..."

Laura looks at Jody.

"...I haven't trusted you for years..."

Jody looks shocked and upset.

"I'm tired of getting the blame for Dad..."

Laura looks at him with venom in her eyes and words.

"Then you should've tried harder!"

"He did..."

The pair look over and see their Earth Dad overlooking them. Jody looks shocked and terrified.

"He did everything he could, sweetie..."

"He let you die..."

"He ran as fast as he could".

"He wasn't fast enough"

"I pushed him away!"

Laura looks confused as Jody hangs his head in shame.

"Wh...why?"

"Because if Jody succeeded in his efforts, he'd be dead. Not me. And he was needed".

"I needed you..."

"You need your brother more. You're both from another world. I'm just the guy who adopted you..."

"You're my daddy..."

Laura coughs. She's getting weaker. Jody looks at the ghost.

"Do something, Dad!"

"I can't..."

"PLEASE! YOUR LAST WORDS TO ME WERE THAT YOU OWED ME! WELL I'M CALLING IN THAT FAVOUR!"

He stands there for a moment. Laura deteriorates quickly.

"Dad...please...I need her..."

He looks sad.

"She's from another world. Anything I do won't work..."

Jody stares at him.

"No..."

"Say goodbye to her, Jody...I'll take care of her..."

Jody looks back at Laura and kneels down once more.

"I don't care you don't trust me. I don't care you've hated me all this time. I don't care that you blame me for something I didn't do. I love you all the same. You've always been there with me. From the moment we left Eden to now. And I swear, on my life, that I will do my best to try and make you proud of me. If there's any capacity for that left..."

Laura puts her hand on his cheek.

"I love you too, Jody..."

Mel sits in the Archive waiting for news. As she does, she hears someone behind her.

"You're as beautiful as I imagined..."

She turns around to see the figure standing there. She bursts into tears.

"Mum..."

******

Warren sits at his desk at the police station waiting to co-ordinate the response to the events downtown. As he stands up he looks to the door and sees two figures, two women, smiling.

"Roberta...Magdalena..."

******

"I'm going to need a name..."

Laura chuckles as she gets weaker still.

"Well, we'll give you a fitting one...What was that name Mum used to call you when you phased out and pranked her?"

"She called me Ghost..."

"Seems appropriate..."

Laura chuckles.

"Ghost it is..."

They smile at each other for a moments. Before Laura's smile suddenly looks blank. Her face turns blank with eyes still open. Jody realises what's happened and just stares. Kasim puts his hand on Jody's shoulder.

"Don't cry because it ended, brother..."

They look back towards Jody's Earth Dad who's still standing there. Only, Laura's next to him.

"...be glad it happened..."

Earth Dad and Laura hold hands as the portal starts to close and they fade away.

"Goodbye, Jody..."

She smiles as they fade away. Jody continues to kneel next to her physical form. He struggles to process everything that's going on. First Roberta, now her. He stands up and just continues staring.

"Jody...I'm so sorry..."

Jody doesn't reply. He just continues staring...
